Autumnal Wedding

On Saturday we catered for the lovely Whetstone family to celebrate the wedding of their daughter Tanya and her husband Sam, at their stunning home in Ampthill. An autumnal feel both in the marquee and outside with fallen leaves, pine cones and pumpkins, it was the perfect setting.

Almost 200 hundred guests made their way back from the church and were welcomed with glasses of Cremant Champagne and canapés served by our attentive staff, including a hot Pumpkin Bisque Shooter With Toasted Pumpkin Seeds, very warming.

They then moved into the marquee for some warmth and a delicious three course dinner, prepared by John, Dan, David, Tim & Phil. The menu was started with Roasted Sea Bass, Wilted Spinach, Broad Bean And Tomato Veloute, Lemon Oil, Soft Herbs served with warm flavoured breads and butter. For main course they chose Beef Wellington, Roasted Artichokes, Celeriac Puree, Madeira Jus; served with Sautéed Leek, Peas , Savoy Cabbage, Julienne Carrots, Toasted Hazelnuts accompanied by extra jugs of the delicious jus.

After a speech from Martin, Tanya’s Dad and from Sam they tucked into a signature trio of desserts of Sticky Toffee, Butterscotch Sauce; Chocolate Salt Caramel Tart and a Passion Fruit Posset, Pineapple Compote, Coconut Shortbread. Tea & Coffee was served along with a dessert wine for those who wanted that extra sweet taste.

A Best Man’s speech left everyone crying with laughter, and we opened the bar to serve Expresso Martini’s and Dark & Stormy cocktails along with the usual beers, gin & tonics and wines. Fireworks and open fires set the theme for the evening and a live band kept everyone dancing till the early hours, a wonderful celebration.

We had lots of fantastic comments about the food and our ever accommodating staff which meant so much as the family have been in the hotel and catering business for years! If we managed to impress them . . .

So happy to of been a part of this wonderful day.

Tipi4hire Open Weekend at Rothamsted Manor

We’ve had a lovely weekend meeting new clients at Rothamsted Manor. Having set the Tipis on the main lawn and setting up internally in the Manor, there was a lot for potential couples to see. They can book either inside or out depending on the type of day the want, so much potential and this truly stunning venue!

John cooked his signature braised beef and root veg in one of our big pans and served it with warm crusty bread. It was delicious! Everyone commented on how good it tasted and how it suited the autumnal afternoons.

Thanks for having us @tipis4hire and @RothamstedManor, we look forward to working with you all in 2018 and beyond. We also look forward to meeting again all the lovely people we met and hopefully to be part of their big days!

Last wedding of the season at Lodge Farm

Yesterday we catered for the lovely Lizzy & Joe at our final wedding of the season at Lodge Farm. Over this summer we have catered for no less than 17 couples here, a stunning venue with the added benefit of the Lodge that sleeps 14 overnight.

Lizzy & Joe had a church wedding in their village and then arrived at Lodge Farm to be greeted with Pimms and canapés before heading into the warmth of the Tipi. They had decorated it with an autumnal theme, complete with conkers and leaves collected during the week before.

A three course feast was cooked by John and his team in yet another very damp catering tent! What is it with rain and Saturdays this summer? They started with Roasted Butternut, Sun-Blushed Tomato And Blue Cheese Tartlet, Herb Salad, Roasted Red Pepper Tapenade followed by Sirloin Of Beef, Blue Cheese Dauphinoise, Seasonal Vegetables, Toasted Almonds, Red Wine Jus with a Roasted Vegetable And Goats Cheese Open Lasagne, Herb Salad, Hazelnut Pesto for the vegetarians. A Trio f desserts completed the meal made up from a Dark Chocolate Torte, Caramelised Bananas; a Sticky Toffee Pudding with Salted Caramel Sauce and a Passion Fruit Posset, Pineapple Compote and Coconut Shortbread. It was delicious, the beef cooked to perfection the guests commented!

The evening entertainment got underway with All Covered Up lead by Adam, with a fantastic 2 singers and a saxophonist who was playing amongst the dancers on the dance floor! Everyone dance the night away and had a brilliant day! Lizzy & Joe were so happy!

What a great weeding to end the season, although they have all been great. A mix of people and themes, but all a pleasure to work with. A big thank you to Maria and her team for having us as their preferred supplier, it been great; roll on May 2018 when we can do it all again!

A scrumptious menu!

Saturday at Lodge Farm was a truly magnificent wedding for Jacqui & Terry. A blessing in the secret garden in warm autumnal sunshine started their magical day, followed by Prosecco and canapés on the lawn whilst listening to the acoustic guitar played by Michael King.

Once in the marquee, they were served a scrumptious 3 course dinner prepared by John, David & Jemima. To start they had Twice Baked Goats Cheese Souffle, Figs, Honeyed Pecans, Watercress, Parmesan Cream; followed by a main course of Rump Of Lamb, Mint Hollandaise, Colcannon Cake, Roasted Chantennays, Asparagus; with a trio of desserts comprising of Eton Mess, Blossom Honey, Strawberry Shortcake; White And Dark Chocolate Cheesecake, Dark Cherry Syrup; and Pain Au Chocolate Bread And Butter Pudding, Cinnamon Syrup. Delicious. The guests all commented on how lovely the food was and how lovely the staff serving it were.

Dancing into the night with both a band and disco they really enjoyed themselves. A few even carried on in the house with photo booth props and Prosecco! A lovely day for a truly gorgeous couple, one I will remember for a long time. Congratulations Mr & Mrs Sargent!
